What a decade it’s been!

To all at Dreamcrest:

Where were you in 1999? Remember how the world was panicking over the turning of the century due to a computer glitch, but here we are 10 years after our clocks ticked into the 21st century. As we are entering a new decade in 2010 we would like to share a brief Dreamcrest reflection on the last decade.

The first decade of the 21st century brought Ian, Kelly and Waylon a new human family member in Wyatt, new equine family members in Smokey, Gaudy, Seb, GiGi, and various foals and other horses. Also brought the loss of our Indoor Eventing Champion Slingshot (Theo) among several other beloved horses and canines.

Ian competed at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 with Mata Riki (Tom) and with Napalm (Smokey) in the World Equestrian Games in Germany in 2006. Waylon competed in Many NAYRCs and in Brazil in 2002 represented Canada in the FEI Children’s Jumper World Championships and again in Brazil with Paleface in 2007 at the Pan American Games winning team silver.

We have had several riders compete at the NAYRC winning many Team medals and just this year winning silver with the JR team who was comprised of mostly Dreamcrest riders. Waylon and Ian have been selected for a grant from Petro Canada for their successes as rider and coach. And Waylon achieved Top Male rider award for Ontario. Ian is now very involved with coaching in Canada and has been elected to Chair of Coaching Canada for Eventing.

Dialadream, the inspirational source of Dreamcrest on so many levels, was the first horse inducted into the Eventing Hall of Fame.

Dreamcrest has for 26 years produced and continues to produce riders who enjoy riding for recreation, sport and a vocation. Without our base of people who care for our horses like Nancy who has been feeding our horses for over 20 years , Marianne and Tracey who develop our riders with some continuing on to become horse owners, Danielle and Cheryl who mfrom riding in the school moved on to owning and now develop our riders along with Tracey and Marianne. Without these mentioned and others not, we could not of had the success’s that we have had.

Also without our riders, stable staff and owners who support Dreamcrest we would not be where we are today with riders who have gone on to represent Ontario and Canada at the highest levels. Dreamcrest is the top producing stable of Eventing riders in Canada.

As we look onto 2010 Rolex and Badminton are on the horizon along with striving for the WEG’s for Ian and Waylon and NAYRC for some of our riders. The Ontario Championships in September to be hosted by Dreamcrest 2010 will prove to be another busy year.

We are all very lucky to be involved with horses. Whether your involvement with these gentle, kind and beautiful animals is a pastime, a sport, or a vocation, having horses as a part of our lives makes our lives fuller.

Thanks for being part of the continuing Dream…………..

Kelly, Ian, Waylon and Wyatt
