Waylon Roberts was named 2009 Male Rider of the Year at the Ontario Horse Trials Association annual meeting and awards banquet recently. The trophy is awarded to the male rider who has accumulated the highest total points for his top two horses at the Preliminary level and above.
Waylon also won the Young Rider Intermediate Division Champion Trophy for his results with his grey mare Gigi, and with Myrrdin’s Sebastian, he was reserve champion in the Intermediate division in the Young Riders Series Challenge.
Rachel Vear on Choco de Pomme won the Young Rider Preliminary Division Champion Trophy while Samantha Elsenaar on Armon was the preliminary division winner in the Young Riders Series Challenge.
Kelly Plitz donated the inaugural Dialadream Award for cross country equitation and style award, which went to Edie Tarves.
